With the weather getting a bit nippy, we have moved indoors to the Clubhouse again. If all goes well, and the volunteer commitment remains steady, we intend to continue through the winter.
When the hockey season starts it will affect the physical size of our market (December to April markets), so keep that in mind when you are trying to decide what kind of carrier to bring with you. Too many shopping carts can clog up a small area. We hope that only people with physical challenges will bring carts, and that the rest with suffice with backpacks or shopping bags.

Our contribution wish list
People have frequently asked to donate money to the Really Really Free Market. While we appreciate the sentiment behind the offers, the RRFM is a cashless enterprise and it would be against our attempts to promote a money-less "gifting" economy by accepting money. However, we do accept contribution of goods and services, and there are always things we need. If you are able to give us any of the following, we would be forever grateful.
In no particular order, here are some of the things we would appreciate:
1) Tables with foldable or detachable legs
2) A slightly bigger bookcase
3) Large whiteboards for putting up signs
4) More volunteers!
This list will become a permanent part of the sidebar to the right, and will be updated if and when we receive the items or we think of more stuff. Please contact us at rrfmarket@gmail.com if you are willing to donate anything on the list.

The Market will return--as soon as we have enough volunteers!
Would you like to volunteer two or more hours at our once-a-month market?
We need help with:
Helping market goers by answering their inquiries and assisting in placing their stuff on tables
Keeping tables organized and easily accessible
Setting up
Taking down
Taking leftovers to charities with your bike or other vehicle
If you think you can do some of these, please let us know.
Remember, volunteers, just like other market-goers, can take from the market whatever they wish to!

MARKET POSTPONED UNTIL RE-ORGANIZATION TAKES PLACE
Dear market-goers and volunteers,
In order to improve the Really Really Free Market at Campbell Park, we have decided to postpone the monthly market until we come up with and put into effect an action plan. We are most likely to resume in spring 2015.
The areas that we plan to focus on most are:
(1) Volunteer involvement at the organizational level and at the market;
(2) Effective and reliable means of transporting market leftovers to charities, etc.;
(3) Guidelines to spread the sharing and co-operation spirit to the few individuals who continue to engage with the market in a competitive mind-set.
We welcome suggestions as we have in the past--in keeping with the principle that a Really Really Free Market involves no money and no swapping. We encourage and would love to have those of you who are available to become involved in the market in order to hasten bringing back the market as soon as possible.
We are very sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.
We will miss you all until we see you again. Thank you for making the market the success that it has been for over two years, 26 markets!

If you would like to hear from us when the market resumes, just send a short message to rrfmarket@gmail.com. And don't forget, we always need lots of volunteers! Volunteering is fun, and you can take anything from the market, just like everyone else. If you want to get involved with RRFM, either at the organizing stage, or at the market itself (of both!) drop us your name. Another thing we need help with is taking the leftovers to charities at the end of the market!

Extra help needed for our July Market (Services and Volunteers)
On July 5th, we celebrate our 2nd year anniversary.
Our anniversary market is still almost two months away, but we think that in the summer it is better to schedule ahead. During the summer, there is so much going on in Toronto that if we don't find potential contributors now, by the time of the event their schedules will be filled up.
We're hoping to have extra events on our anniversary market. We would like to have more free services like the legal advice desk we've had the last two months. We've already received some interesting suggestions from our ongoing Really Really Free Market Survey (1) & (2). If you have any free services to offer, please let us know as soon as you can so we can include them in our newsletter and promotional material.
Most of all, we need more volunteers than usual. If you volunteer at the market, you can still pick up what you wish. Here are some of the things we will need help with:
- Setting up the market (If in the park, carrying tables, signs etc. to the park.)
- Greeting people and explaining how the market works
- Handing out information about the market
- Asking whether people would like to sign up for our newsletter or to volunteer
- Helping people put their stuff on the marked tables
- Keeping all the tables, racks, and other display areas tidy
- Separating broken, torn, rotten, grimy, and smelly items from the nice ones (Yes, sometimes people still bring those things--they probably don't read our announcements)
- Photography/video
- Taking down the market, and return Campbell Park stuff to the Clubhouse
- Boxing and bagging leftovers (but not broken, torn, dirty and smelly things)
- Take those bags and boxes to charities (by foot, bicycle, or motor vehicle -- we often need a motor vehicle)
In addition to the above, we also need help with pre-market activities, such as publicity, facebook, twitter, blogging, newsletter, volunteer coordinating, answering e-mail inquiries, organizing monthly meetings, finding nearby charities to donate leftovers, coordinating drop-offs to charities, networking, taking and publishing meeting minutes, and so on.
Write us to volunteer for any of our markets, including the upcoming June 7th market.
